Description:

The design of coils these rely on outdated technology which had the manufacturing component as a serious limiting factor. With the advance of manufacturing techniques especially the use of powerful lasers to cut and weld metals it is possible to look at a variety of shapes for the pipes and fins of a simple coil. This project involves experimental and computational work to look at the feasibility of a new innovative idea for the shape of the coil tubes.
